Pie Shop is one of the top rock acts to emerge from Aberdeen's live circuit in many years.  The music they play is bold and exciting - and the on-stage performance is nothing short of spectacular.

Even though the band stay pretty much within the rock genre, Classic Rock anthems from the likes of AC/DC, IRON MAIDEN and BLACK SABBATH, eighties rock from GUNS N ROSES, MOTORHEAD and METALLICA through to modern day hits from THE FOO FIGHTERS, GREENDAY and QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE, Pie Shop also manages to recreate music from the broadest spectrum, with tracks from the likes of THE WHO, THE JAM, SEX PISTOLS, THE POLICE, MUSE and the KAISER CHIEFS.  All of this put together, makes this one band you don't want to miss.

Pie Shop is also one of the best selling acts to come out of Scotland.  Don't believe it?  Then get yourself a copy of "GRAND THEFT AUTO: VICE CITY".  The band co-wrote and performed four tracks heavily featured on this game under the guise of fictitious rock legends, "LOVE FIST".  At last count, the game had sold over Twenty Eight million copies world-wide.  Not bad for a bunch of lads fae Aberdeen!

Pie Shop, or 'Mrs Miggans Pie Shop' to give it's full title, was a band name thought up by a good friend of Neil's, "John Carson".  It was a suggestion for his brother's band back in 1998 but was never used.  Four years later and one hundred and thirty miles away, a band searched for a name to use for a one off gig and 'Mrs Miggans Pie Shop' sprang to mind.  The name was quickly shortened to Pie Shop and the band's career slowly stretches towards five years.

The band formed in the summer of 2001, with members from Aberdeen favourites Catch 22, BigFoot and Shogun.  It was all put together within the space of 1 week, 35 numbers all for a one-off gig for a former band member now living in Houston, Texas.  He was coming home for a visit and was looking for the chance to re-create his old 'Rock Days' from when he lived in Aberdeen.

The night was a great success, so the band thought it would be foolish to let it go to waste on just one night.  Not only did the audience love the high energy coming from the stage, the band members also felt a new lease of life with this new type of music they were playing.

Originally, the band formed as a 4-piece outfit but recently made the decision to streamline it down to a 3-piece (losing their front man/bass guitarist all at once), whilst still maintaining the highest level of quality and presentation of the band.

Changing to a 3-piece was a massive decision for them and a bit nerve racking at first because the remaining members had to take on, not only new responsibilities but, the task of learning new material to suit the new lead vocalist whilst still delivering the same kind of set that their regular fans had come to expect.

Trev had to go from concentrating all his efforts playing 'amazing' lead guitar, and 'posturing' all over the stage (which is his weapon.... those who have seen him already will know what we mean) to taking on the job as front man, as well as maintaining the former - no easy task at all.

Neil had to change from standing quietly in the corner (which works on stage as a great contrast to Trev's style) giving a 'solid' performance on rhythm guitar to learning all the songs again for bass guitar while standing 'less quietly' to take on the role of backing vocalist.

Andy, whilst having the least disruption to his role compared to the other two, was still required to deliver his 'no-nonsense' style to the drums which helps drive the band, but also had to take on the extra duty of backing vocalist along with Neil.

Although they are all very experienced musicians in their own right, they are also musicians who are growing all the time and are always open to and not afraid of the fact that there is always something new to learn.

Not only was all this a great challenge for them all, learning new skills, techniques and styles but it was and still is an immense amount of fun.  If a band enjoys what they are doing on stage, like Pie Shop obviously does, then this will project onto the audience and hopefully this means they will have as much fun off stage.

All the right ingredients for a memorable night.

The members of Pie Shop are starting a tribute band to the Foo Fighters called 'In Your Honour'.
